This large, massive coral head is capable of surviving high wave energy on the reef top. At front right, more slender, delicate Acropora colonies have been broken off and transported here by waves and storms.

The Acropora colonies here are more delicate than the large coral head above, but still capable of withstanding considerable environmental energy.
