Clastic sediment trapping

Rivers feed sand and mud from the high-relief areas of the volcanic island of Viti Levu, Fiji. Some of the mud, as here, is trapped in swamps by the roots and stems of mangrove trees. This is a good example of sediment trapping or baffling.
